El Segundo Hampton Inn & Suites

Project Overview

The project is comprised of a 171-key, 5-story hotel over podium parking with indoor pool on a 1.5 acre, urban infill site. The 5-story structure over podium parking was designed adjacent to several active pipelines which convey oil to local refineries. This required detailed utility location and pothole work, thoughtful design, and permitting through several publicly traded energy companies.

The project also implemented a creative storm water design for water quality treatment and storm water disposal utilizing the area’s geotechnical conditions and due to the lack of existing storm drain systems in the area, respectively. The design consisted of a storm water filter, an underground storage tank, and a pair of dry wells to infiltrate the project’s storm water runoff and recharge the area’s groundwater.

Lastly, design, coordination, permitting was required for the project to gain approvals from the City of El Segundo and Caltrans for the project’s proposed street improvements and utility connections in State Route 1 (North Sepulveda Boulevard).
